Race Retire

I messed up this year’s Bay To Breakers.  Didn’t pick up my registration packet or timing chip, didn’t bring a camera.  I showed up 20 minutes after the start thinking I would avoid the serious runners but the crush was actually from the costumed and imbibing runners — 60,000 people!!  It was a festive and fun party atmosphere but I just couldn’t navigate through the floats and bottles and tortillas and bodies.  The Dr. Mario and Dhalsim costumes were pretty cool, I must say.  So, I caught the train to Castro Valley and had an omelet at Jenny’s Cafe — probably a 2,000 calorie swing from jogging 7.5 miles to not jogging and eating eggs and sourdough toast.  I did jog this afternoon, though, so there was some salvage.  And I still feel ready for another organized race, just gotta be better prepared for all of the ones approaching this summer.
