I’m With You All The Way

Cruisin’ On In

While in the dentist’s chair Thursday morning I asked the nurse “What do you suppose the doctor is doing right now?”  It was that situation where the nurse gets you all set up, took the blood pressure, gave he medicine, hooked up the oxygen…it was for a four wisdom tooth extraction, hence all of the details.  She had offered up the information on how I should take it easy afterward and how she looked like a chipmunk for a few days after getting her own teeth taken out.  It seemed like ten minutes had passed between the time we were ready and the time I asked her what was up.  She said the doctor was reading the charts, getting mentally prepared.

A few minutes later, the resident hurried in to say: “Dr. Gordon just called.  He’s finding a parking space and he’ll be up in a minute.”  But, hey, when you’ve got a 29-page curriculum vitae and wear a black wool fedora, you’ve earned the right to cruise in a little late.

  1. Um, no you don’t.
    Nope.
You don’t have the right, but likely, you will be late despite the impact on others…

Maybe he’s compulsive and, like the 29 pages, just over does everything, like being late.

Hopefully the surgery for you was quick though.

  2. oh, i laughed. thank you.
i’m sorry that happened, but thank you.

my last dentist did something really unprofessional while working on me once, and i never went back. i’d been going to her for about…man, maybe 6 or 8 years?

although now i feel bitchy about that; like, are dentists always to be the model of professionalism?
