Merry Christmas to All
WhatUpThen is sputtering into 2008. Only a coupla posts this month so, naturally, writing more consistently will be a goal for the upcoming year. May as well get started now!
Christmas Gifts
I’m 27, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still become giddy over the idea of receiving multiple gifts. The holidays are very low-key for my family, though, so I didn’t expect to receive a ton of things. I should say, though, that I spent more $$ than ever before for gifts this year; tried to be very thoughtful. I also spent a significant amount on myself to, uh…supplement my possessions. Anyway, take a look:
Can you tell these things are for me? Pumas, electronics and…books? Well, I don’t read a ton…but let’s say that if you read less than I do then you need to read more. Plus, they’re both well-thought out gifts from the girlfriend. iPod and socks from Mom and Dad, meaning the Nikes, Pumas, Sidekick and Wii were my own purchases. Steady work is a truly wonderful thing.
Getting Together
My thoughts about my high school friend Naomi have changed over time. Once a moody introvert, she changed into a a globetrotting social maven and now the Peace Corps in Africa — it’s quite impressive. And the care package I mailed to her in June got returned to me by the Postal Service just a few days ago — evidently, it has been sitting in San Francisco, undeliverable — so I feel a bit guilty. She said she wanted to see the guys while she’s in town for a week, but “the guys” are no longer as she once knew them. Nevertheless, I’m arranging a party that will feature people I haven’t spoken to for years (and who haven’t spoken to me, either), “friends” I don’t particularly like, am uncomfortable around or simply just don’t care about, a woman who stood me up on a date (Hell no, I haven’t forgotten!), a person who fell off the radar entirely supposedly due to excessive World of Warcraft and two people maintaining a completely irrational feud. I’m so bringing my camera!!
More Vacation Stuff
It’s 12:38am. Somehow it has taken me 4 hours to write this. I’ll continue with more tomorrow. Until then (and likely afterward) please enjoy this video sent to me by Master P. “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” is one of my favorite songs. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and more importantly, Happy New Year. Like you, I hope to put more energy into writing this year. I’m sorry I have been distant and wading through things recently.
Your friend is pretty brave to request so many old friends at the same place/time. And you are slightly wicked and insane to facilitate that. But I trust you to pull it off, and look forward to you reporting back-
Thank you for being awesome in the world and sharing it with all of us.
Rock on.
