Terms of Endearment
I thought of a nickname for this woman I’ve been seeing. A couple of things, though. First, I was thinking of the names that I call some people, including myself. I call myself WhatUpThen or The $ynchronizer, and there’s Captain E and CodeWarrior and Master P and MK3. Really, these are terms of endearment for people I care for. It would feel strange to address these people by their formal names if we’re in typically informal situations and, plus, I am close enough to these people that they accept it. So, I felt it was important to come up with something to call her besides her name. And generic terms like “honey”, “sweetie” and “babe”, I…I just can’t. To be honest, I’m not even sure this chick really exists. I feel like I’m that first no-name criminal in the 1989 Batman movie who exclaims “Who are you?” because he’s shocked that this dazzling, yet mysterious figure appeared out of nowhere to devastate him. But in a good way. Anyway, the nickname/term of endearment for this fantastic lady…El-Train. Come on, now. That’s badass. It’s the coolest thing ever. She can take a walk if she doesn’t like it.
God, I hope she likes it.
This weekend from Ten to Zero:
10 dollars spent on allergy medication.
9 brief minutes of conversation with Special K.
8 hours of sleep on Sunday
7 actors I can name from American Gangster (Denzel, Russell Crowe, RZA, Common, T.I., Cuba Gooding, Jr., Chiwetel Ejiofor, oh, and Carla Gugino. Okay, I messed it up.)
6 dollars and 45 cents spent at Happy Donut.
5 quesadillas made (and eaten).
4 songs downloaded from iTunes Music Store.
3 apartment complexes investigated.
2 trips to the courts to play ball. And I’m sore as fuck.
1 date with El-Train. Who said we needed to plan anything?
0 minutes of work completed.

I love the idea of the ten to zero. Very unique…at least to me. And the nickname is awesome.
