I’m With You All The Way

Back Again

How did the entire Thanksgiving holiday pass without me doing any lesson planning?  It’s incredible, but hey…that’s why I’m the world’s greatest teacher!  And now I’m correcting exams blogging while listening to “Night Shift” on Winamp.

Well, gosh, it’s been quite a week!  So many things I’ve done, it seems from seeing Rose and Dad to saving face in the staff vs. Frosh/Soph basketball game to holding an infant for the first time ever.  That last one was a trip; never had sitting on a couch felt so harrowing.  And there’s this one month-old child staring you in the face looking like its eyes will pop out of its head but it’s very lovely at the same time.  I’m sorry, it’s taking some time for me to get past calling the kid “it” instead of “he” or “she” (it’s a boy) because he just doesn’t seem to have the characteristics I associate with being male or female.  I’m not attacking the kid at all…he just hasn’t established himself in my mind.  And also, calling the kid he or she somehow seems accusatory.  You know what I’m talking about??

Miggety Mike went to elementary school with me and now he’s a father and he seems such a perfect fit for it.  It is incredible how far from father/familyhood I am.  There are just so many intermediate steps yet to be taken: establishing financial independence, securing a reasonable living space, dating a woman living in the same ZIP code…or for more than a month (ladies, I have so much to offer!  I’m like the Backstreet Boys — love is all I have to give!).  But being in my position allows me to appreciate the direction MM has taken with his life.  I’m impressed, man.

Guess who’s making a triumphant return to the SeaTac before/during New Years’ Eve?  WhatUpThen!!  If you’re in Seattle reading this and you want to get a drink at Chapel do let me know before long.  Or Serafina in Eastlake.  Or whatever place you think is nice; I’m just throwing names out there trying to sound cool.

  1. When are you going to be in town?

I don’t know the Chapel, but it looks pretty from the photos online-
