Costumed Teacher
This week is the last week of the quarter at the high school. That’s right, baby! Friday will mark 43 days as a teacher under my belt. Unlike during my substitute days, the kids have been generally great and I’ve been able to minimize the chaos that brims in every high school classroom. Haven’t written one detention (although some were deserved); haven’t written one referral (possibly none deserved!) and the only students who are failing are those who have serious attendance problems. I take this to mean that it’s not my teaching style or our personality clash that is causing them to fail, but something outside of my reach. It’s also possible that I need to make my class a more desirable place to be; I lecture too much, we haven’t done nearly the number of labs as we set out to do and I’ve been known to lose an assignment or two but the kids are learning some biology and that’s important even if they don’t all realize it today.
I read videoxy’s post on her Halloween costume and it got me thinking about my own costume. Part of me doesn’t want to talk it up because I actually have to make this costume and there’s the slightest chance that I’ll cop out and play PS2 all weekend instead of being creative and getting the supplies and crafting the last Halloween costume I’ll ever need (sounds kinda eerie). But I will talk it up because it’s gonna be badass and I’ll have photos of the process and of the party…if I can find one to attend.

So what’s the Super-Mysterious-Badass costume then? Fess up!
And also, congrats on your 43 days of teaching. My sister teaches elementary and that seems pretty difficult in itself. I can only imagine the challenges (and rewards) of teaching high school. Good job nerd. Onward!

I vote for playing PS2 all weekend =)
I am in a similar situation. I have a party to go to this Saturday, but no costume. I thought about going as Paris Hilton, but slutty clothes are expensive! =)
