Dragging Along (with trivia!)

Earlier this evening, my sister told me that Jessica Simpson was a virgin bride. I told my sister that that was a bold-faced lie. Later, doing the usual ignoring of my lesson-planning, I looked up Jessica Simpson on Wikipedia to find that her father was a preacher and she had a strict religious upbringing that might suggest that she remained a virgin until her early twenties. So, my sister is probably right and now you’ve learned a very important piece of knowledge today!

Short of breath after taking the stairs…munching on Starburst, Snickers and Doritos…getting left in the dust by a 5′5″ guy on the basketball court…these were my experiences over the past week. I’ve been swamped with classwork and work-work and I haven’t found time to run at all. Kids starting selling candy at school and I’ve been all too happy to support them. Also, I had 3 burgers this weekend: a Jumbo Jack with fries on Saturday, a 1/3 pounder with sauteed mushrooms from The Counter later that same day, and another 1/3 pounder from Barney’s on Sunday afternoon. This piled onto the Sausage Biscuit with Egg I ate Friday morning, despite that the kitchen is stocked with oatmeal and a fresh pineapple that’s been sitting on the table for a week looking back at me like a troll.

It’s incredible how, less than a month ago, I was talking about having completed serious jogging just on a whim and now I feel hella dumpy. I never saw Super-Size Me, but I suppose I’m experiencing a miniature version of that right now. Anyway, this week it’s time to get my act together. Part of me wants to be strappingly fit for my 5-year college reunion this weekend and part of me doesn’t give a shit what those pretentious-ass people think. Regardless of the reason, I’ll be making more of my own food this week, for certain.

  1. let’s run together. i’m trying to get in shape for a a half marathon in february, and i could use a running buddy.

i’ll live in the east bay soon, so i’ll be closer by to make the runningness happen.

which reminds me, i need to find somewhere to live in the east bay before the end of the month.

    goody.

  2. Take Alicia up on her offer.
You can do it, you can get back into running again.
And you even have a motivated partner, which is like gold.
Lastly, you could reward yourself with some new running shoes… We know how you like those Pumas.
