Week in Review
Being off of work is incredible. It’s 1:30am and I’ve got my rich, chocolate Ovaltine and a bagel with strawberry jam while listening to “Fa Fa” by Guster. I still need to go on a real vacation before school starts, but this is wonderful. It shows that it’s possible to have moments of genuine relaxation no matter where you are.
Plenty has happened this week. Our adult league basketball team won its first legitimate game. It was a 49-48 thriller that we pulled out on a game-winner with 3 seconds to play. And thankfully, since the clock doesn’t stop in this league, our opponents didn’t have an opportunity to inbound the ball with enough time to score. With that win, our record is 2-3 and we’re playoff-bound. What else? I learned that the shady-ass card room that I’ve avoided walking past for years despite being nearly 6ft tall and 200 lbs. is quite nice inside. And the dealers were super-friendly, too. Who knew a place with 24-hour Rent-a-Cops could be so reputable?
And I briefly met this lesbian chick (redundant?) on Wednesday night at the bar. I think it’s blogworthy when a woman approaches me because I can count the number of times that has happened with two, maybe three fingers. Not that I’ve ever counted with my fingers and, frankly, I don’t quite understand how people do it, but that’s besides the point. In a nutshell, Brittany was like: “You’re a nice guy” and she saw me looking at her cleavage and she thought: “That’s not quite what I was thinking, but you’re too nice to pass up” and that’s more or less the plot of Chasing Amy, right?? It’s been too many years…I don’t really know. Anyhow, that was fun. And that’s all that happened this week.
